There is not one thing that can happen to you without being ordained by your good Father. Pestilence and poverty and persecution all pass through His just and merciful fingers. This is comfort for the Christian (though it can be infuriating to the unbeliever).
When we’re caught in a moment like this, a moment in which we can suffer both from the panic and the thing we’re panicking over, the fact that God is God, not simply a benevolent well-wisher in the sky hoping everything turns out all right down here, is medicine for the Christian’s soul. Worried? Cast all your anxieties upon Him, for He cares for you. Sick? Call the elders and let them pray for you to the God who answers the humble. Our God is in the Heavens, and He does what He pleases. Neither American recession nor Covid-19 are slipping by Him.
Let us put our trust in the Lord in perilous days. He is worthy of every shred of faith we have.
